Nowadays with the new technological advances, people are starting to depend on different devices, apps and gadget on common chores like for example, the searching of information. Before this century, usually if you wanted to know certain information about something, you should look for it on libraries, reading different books, or asking someone who knows about the topic. Now with the internet you can find anything with only tapping on your computer. Whit this new gadget, the very smart smartphone, which is double smart that regular smartphone, you can’t only found information, but you can tell your smartphone to teach you what it found. Is the new era of “Bobby” the revolutionary software that recreates human abilities like an artificial intelligence. You can modify if you want a woman or a man (in case is a woman it is called Janet). It helps you to understand want you find complicated, and it could be a good friend when you are in need. The study of stable isotopes, in the central valley of Chile, during the early potter period. The study with stable isotopes, are very useful to help the archaeologist to recreate and study  diet and mobility of different groups of people. This study is made with Carbon isotopes (C), Nitrogen isotopes (N), and oxygen (O). With these three we can evidence different kind of meal that two groups (el Bato and Llolleo) had on the last 10 years of their lives.   The results will be analyzed, with these, we will see when did the corn was incorporated to the diet of these two groups.   First of all we will describe specifically all the studies that we made, and we will compare the results with the two tribes. Later we will see the frequency that shows corn on the diet. Finally we will try to date the appearance of corn on people diet between the archaic period and the early potter period. We will use principally carbon (C) isotopes, because this ...

Introduction:                 Many scientists have problems to define the beginning of life. Doctor Johnson from Chicago University, say that life  start at the fecundation moment, while many Doctors from Oxford University say that it start when the embryo develop sense, and even other group say that it start when the baby is born (but this theory is very old and has been refuted by a lot of members of the scientist community). Since the beginning of the twenty first century, doctors are trying to agree in a specific period of the pregnancy to determinate when life star, to treat social topics, like abortion. But it is hard to find an agreement because of different believes of each scientist, and their own definitions of life (not just in a biological way, but in a philosophical one too). This paper will argue, that the life of the upcoming baby, start at the third month of pregnancy, because that is when the nervous system is develo...

English Language Challenge

Image
Hello there! Today I’m going to talk about my English Language Challenge this year. Well I going to start telling you how did I learned to speak English. I learn when I was like 9 years old, because my dad went to live in the US and had two more children. They don’t know how to speak Spanish so I had to learn English to speak with them. Then learn even more because I started to watch series and movies in English and sometimes even without subtitle. This year, I had to do an English class in the university. It is obligatory, and that is the reason why I’m writing this blogs every week. If this class wasn’t obligatory I surely wouldn’t be here, but here I am. First I thought this class was very boring, but then the teacher made us write this blogs down and I discover another method to learn this language. I think this is a really good way to learn because it let you express what you think but you must do it in English so it forces you to have a vocabulary pretty good. And the te...

change in the program

Image
Hello! This week I’m going to talk about what changes I would do in the program.  I think that the study program of Anthropology in the University Of Chile is very good. In fact I choose this University because I like the program. It counts with six subjects: Anthropology I, Archeology I, Biology, Latin American history, Philosophy and Social Science Methodology. My favorite subject is anthropology I think that is a very good class with really good teachers, and the topics that they teach us are very interesting. On the other hand, the class that I dislike the most is Philosophy. Back in school, it was my favorite class, but now I hate it. I hate the teacher and the way he teach. I think that my first change in the program will be changing that teacher I really Kant stand him (did you see what I did there?). He is very egocentric; he thinks that he is the most intelligent guy on this campus. Although I like his partner. It’s a second teacher. He is really sweet and he cares...

Winter Holidays

Image
This week I’m going to talk about winter holidays. Usually, for my winter holydays I go to visit my uncle in Punta Arenas. He moved there like four years ago and since then I go every winter to visit him. I went with my cousins and my aunt, because my vacations where the same as hers, but this year is different.  Like I got in the university the vacations aren’t the same that last ear so they aren’t at the same time. When I have vacation is when my cousins are getting back from it. So I think this year I won’t go to visit my uncle. It’s a shame because we have a great time together.  Like there is winter too, usually is snowy o we take our sleds and we played all day long in the snow. It is very cool.  This year I think I’m going to stay home, in Viña del Mar, resting from the large semester that we just lived. I will spend time with my brothers and sister because I never see them anymore. I have some stuff unresolved in viña, and with my beautiful two week of...

My favorite picture!!

My favorite picture!! Hello there! This week I’m going to talk about one of my favorite pictures of myself.  As you can see I am not alone in this picture. I am with my best friends Paulina and Josefina. There is a story behind this picture. Another friend of mine called Dora (yes like Dora the explorer) took it. We were in our study trip. We went to Spain, then France and we finished in London. Well this one was taken in Spain right outside the Escorial Palace.  We were traveling between the different cities on a bus. Every 2 hours there was a stop to go to the toilette. So we stopped and Josefina and I, we thought that it was the typical stop to pee. We didn’t bring our jackets or scarfs anything. When we came back to get a confortable sit on the bus, well the bus was gone. The head teacher told us that we have to walk to the palace so we were like “oh! Shut”.  We walked all through the city (by the way, it was a very cold winter) and we almost died. To f...

PostGraduate Studies

Image
PostGraduate Studies Hello again! Well this week I’m going to talk about what postgraduate studies I want to do in the future. As you read in my last blog, I want to do research about Greek mythology. Here, in the University of Chile, there are different magister, one in archeology and other in social science. I don’t like any of those. I looked up online, what postgraduate studies about Greece there in France, and I found a very interesting   one in Université Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne, that is exactly what I want. It is a specialized study about the archeology and culture of the ancients Greek cities. I think when I’ve finish the career I will work like a few years and then I will postulate to a scholarship to make my master and then a PhD. If I can accomplish this, then I will go to France or Greece. But after my studies I will have to come back for a few years (I think is like for three or four years) to practice my PhD here in Chile. After the time I have to spend in ...

My future job

Image
Image
My Future Job: I am studying Anthropology at the Universidad de Chile, because in the future I want to go to Europe to study the ancients civilization. My favorite one is the ancient Greek culture. I love their mythology; I want to specialize in this culture. I see myself teaching mythology in a university in France. I’ve always loved this topic. This is why I decided to study anthropology. To do this job you should have like years of study in this particular topic, and you have to have the ability to compare this culture and their beliefs with other cultures around the world. I read a book once that it explain  this, saying that too very different culture that are very apart can develop very similar religions or cosmological myths. You could say “Hey! Why do you want to teach? You can do research about this. Why would you bother teach this?” the answer is very simple: I love to teach and do research. That is particularly why I want to be attached to a university, so I can...

What am I really into?

Image
what am I really into? I’m really obsessed with many things: TV shows like grey’s anatomy, books, food, etc… But my biggest obsession is music. I can’t live without music, it make my life flow. I’m obsessed with particularly one band: Of Monsters And Men. It’s an indie folk group from Iceland, but they sing in English. At the beginning the group was conform by six members: Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir, Ragnar Þórhallsson, Brynjar Leifsson, Kristján Páll Kristjánsson, Arnar Rósenkranz Hilmarsson and Árni Guðjónsson. Now they are like 10 members from all over the world. I love with all my soul their music. The songs, the lyrics, the music itself it’s awesome. On the first album the sing and play about their problems like every group but they combined it with Icelandic legends, it’s beautiful. Their most famous song is Little Talks; it is very good but is not the best. There are so much more songs so much better.   The sound of the two vocalists, the woman and the man, ...

My favorite concert.

Image
My favorite concert. When I was little, my best friend when to every freaking concert. She went to Paul McCartney, Roger Waters, Journey, etc. I was always jealous because those artists were my favorite too.  When I finally went to a concert, I went with all my family to see Joaquin Sabina. It was very boring and nothing compare with Paul McCartney. My first concert alone (I mean with only my friends) was Ed Sheeran. But definitely the best concert I've been to is the 1975. I was invited, I only knew like three songs but I went anyway. It was great! I went with my friends from school, I really missed them because now I’m living in Santiago, but that’s another story for another time. Well I get to see them and even if I didn’t knew all the songs it was very fun. I dance so much, I had a really great time. There was a light show very crazy, like when it turns off and on very fast so you see like in pieces or like an old movie. The songs were very goods. After t...

The most embarrassing moment of my life.

Image
The most embarrassing moment of my life. Summer 2011, I was invited with my friends to the beach. It was a sunny day, very hot, and the beach was full of people. Not just people, they were like magazine models. Oh! I forgot to tell, the beach was reñaca’s beach, the fifth sector.  We (me and my friends) went there because we wanted to be cool kids. When we got there, I realized that I didn’t bring a bathing suit( I have to say that back then I was very uncomfortable with my body so bikinis weren’t an option). Well my dear friend Michelle brought two bikinis. I didn’t want to wear it, but it was so hot and the water looked so nice. Finally I wear the bikini, but then, another problem came out. It was strapless.  I was only 12 years old so why would I care. Short story, a really big wave hit me and, well, I was topless with all my friends watching. It was very embarrassing. But... the day wasn’t over yet.  After my big scene, my brother came to pick me up. He told...

"Country I want to visit"

Image
" Country I want to visit" I would love to visit Australia. I want to visit it because is a very dangerous country. Not because of the people but because of the different animals and plants that lived there. Once I heard that everything was poisonous: you could die because of a lizard, a snake, or surfing (because you know sharks can eat you). I like that risk. On the other hand, I love the sea, I have a scuba diving certification and I would love to dive there between sharks and see the coral reef ( even when it is poisonous too) with many colors that look so different down there compare with the normal colors that we see every day. I have never seen a koala Bear or a kangaroo, it’s like the most iconic animals and I want to see them and of course I want to go to the Sydney’s opera theater. Finally I think that the history of that place is very interesting. They built a country from an island of prisoners. That’s amazing.
